Farewell

Congratulations to the graduating class of Spring 1967.
Each of you has obtained the educational goal you set for yourselves three years ago. By obtaining your diploma you have prepared yourself for your next goal, whether it be in industry or in higher education. It is the hope of the faculty that you take full advantage of the many opportunities open to high school graduates. Your high school diploma is not only an excellent character reference but a status symbol. You are in a select group. Remember, however, that the road ahead may have many pitfalls, many detours, but we hope the things you have learned at Balboa will see you through. Goodbye and good luck to each and every one of you. Your teachers, schoolmates and teammates will miss you. As you leave, however, we all wish you success In the future!

Art Fair a Success

Slowly the pictures were taken
down, the panels dismantled and
the cafe was put back in order; the
fair had ended.

The Art Fair which ran for two
days during fourth and fifth periods
(the first day in the quad, the
second day in the cafe) was the end
product of much hard work and
.planning on the part of Mr. Ruiz,
Mr. Trave, Mrs. Cameron, and
Mr. George of the art department;
Mrs. McClung and Mrs. Jimenez
of the dance department; and, last
but not least, Mr. Sid Walker of the
music department.

The fair itself contained many
interesting things: Paintings,
sketches, drawing's, pottery of the
many students, live modern dance,
and live music. The fair was
Balboa's first and proved most
successful. Commented Mr. RuiZ
who was the final coordinator/
"The students sold over $250
worth of art work. "

Aloha Seniors of Fall 1967

The Aloha Dance, which, is the
High & Mighty Seniors' last school
dance, was given on January 5 1968, by
the low seniors.
The music was provided by the
Second Life. As tradition goes, a
king and queen were crowned. The
queen, Diane Zito, and the king,
Dan Griffin, started off the next
dance after their crowning.

The dance proved to be a great
success and I'm sure it was one
the high seniors will always re-
member.
Current Problems:

Battle of the Brains

The two Current Problems
classes, on January 15, had a
battle in the form of a competitive
think down. The only weapons
were questions derived from the
from the study of foreign and
domestic affairs . Each side
was allowed ten warriors
to make up a team. The two
teams alternated attacks on
one another. The battle was
held in 216 during fourth period.
The two captains were Ed Bonnett and Ed Russell. Ed Bonnett's side won.

Balboa Fashions

The annual Simplicity Fashion
Show and Tea held January 9, in
the Gold Boom at the Fairmont,
hailed 18 of Balboa's most beautiful
girls as models.

As Miss Buss announced the
fashion, murmurs of "charming, "
"graceful, " and "beautiful, "
passed through the audience of
approximately 450 Bay Area home-
making teachers as they previewed
the spring '68 fashion scene. Pride
was in the faces of Mrs. Roberts,
Mrs. Kelley, and Mrs. Cohen,
Balboa representatives.

Among the young models were
Sandi Salvato, Linda Rodrigues,
Janice Barnett, Ellie Goldstein,
Jeanie Acosta, Brenda Hunt,
Michelle Marciano, Diane Raaen,
Rose White, Agnes Duff, Julle
A'costa, Cindy Shatter, Janet
Louis, Diane Sorrels, Carol
Thomas, Sharion Rockwell,
Cynthia Muneton, and Marion
Rockwell.

Marty Hogan was there to assist
the girls as they came off the runway. Marion Rockwell brought an
end to the show as she gracefully
walked down the runway with Kenny
Green at her side.
