The Balboa Alumni eScrip program
The fastest, simplest, and most convenient way to support Balboa High School

The Balboa Alumni Association has teamed with eScrip to offer a new, convenient and completely painless way for alumni and friends to support Balboa. By registering with eScrip, local and national merchants make automatic donations to the Balboa Alumni Association when you shop at their stores. The program doesn't cost you a penny, but promises to generate thousands of dollars each year to support important programs at Balboa. Just shop as you normally would, knowing that you're helping a worthy cause.

Updated 2/25/09 - Thank you for your Support!

I want to thank everyone who has made purchases using your Safeway Club Card and/or your S.H.A.R.E.S. Card. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I wanted to share with you how your support has benefited the Balboa Alumni Association. The eScrip report showed Balboa Alumni received a Net Contribution $892.12 for 2008. Here's a break down from eScrip:

Month: Jan-Dec 2008 Transactions: 4257 Purchases: $127,936.06
Gross Contribution: $1,050.34; Service Fee: $158.22; Net Contribution: $892.12

You're probably guessing how many alumni's are participating? The eScrip report for Dec 2008 shows we have 95 supporters and on average 65 have made purchases with their Club Card. The Safeway Card must be renewed each year on or after November 1st online or by calling 1-800-400-7878. Please remember to renew your Safeway Card.

The Lucky’s S.H.A.R.E.S. Card Program started last October 2007 and started slow with approximately 20 supporters. Lucky's have improved their training on processing the S.H.A.R.E.S. cards. All they have to do now is swipe the card, it’s that easy. Remember, the Alumni receive 3% when you present your S.H.A.R.E.S Card with each purchase. That's a HUGE profit. We have over 200 members signed up, so please support your alumni and the future of Balboa High School graduates. The Alumni received from the SHARES Program a total of $775.43 for 2008. Thanks to you.

Frequently Asked Questions About eScrip

What is eScrip?
eScrip, Electronic Scrip Incorporated (ESI) is a California-based corporation dedicated to establishing relationships between commerce and community -- to provide resources to organizations and projects that support children. The eScrip program is a fund raising program that allows participating merchants to contribute a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card, and debit/ATM card purchases to the school or organization of your choice. Since 1999, over $70 million has been distributed to schools and groups.

How does eScrip work?
eScrip and over 150 merchant partners have created a hassle-free system that rewards customer loyalty by contributing a percentage of purchases to your chosen group. You shop the way you like to shop (grocery shopping, buying clothes, travel and entertainment). It's simple and convenient, all you need to do is register your grocery club card and debit/credit card(s).

Do my purchases cost more with eScrip?
No, there is no extra surcharge for participating in the eScrip program.

Is there a cost for signing up with eScrip?

Which Bay Area merchants participate in the eScrip program?
A sample of participating merchants include: Safeway, Andronico's Market, Pak 'n Save, Eddie Bauer, Payless Shoes, Office Max, Big 5, AAMCO, Sharper Image, Round Table, Carl's Junior, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines.
Please check the eScrip website, www.escrip.com for a complete list of merchants from across the country.

Why would these merchants agree to give part of their profit away through eScrip?
The merchants receive a tax benefit for their contributions. They also participate in the program as a means of promoting greater loyalty among their customers, who have more incentive to shop at their stores.

How will I know that my cards have been registered?
You will be notified by mail when your cards have been registered and are ready for use on the eScrip program.

How will I know how much I have contributed using the eScrip program?
You will receive a regular summary report showing your eScrip program transactions and the amount contributed by the merchants to your organization. The Balboa Alumni Association will also receive a monthly, consolidated report showing the amount contributed in your name.
